The claim that your Facebook Account has been cloned

Hoaxes and Fake Email Warnings

facebook hoax

The hoax chain message instructs you to copy and past the following text and post it on Facebook

"Heads-up!! Almost every account is being cloned. Your picture and your name are used to create a new face book account (they don't need your password to do this this). They want your friends to add them to their Facebook account. Your friends will think that it's you and accept your request. From that point on they can write what they want under your name. I have NO plans to open a new account. Please DO NOT accept a 2nd friend request from "me". please forward to all your contacts"

Here's another variation of the message:

"Couple of things I'd like to draw your attention to fellow facebookers ......Over the last few days I have received several messages warning me that a friend request has been received under my name. I DID NOT SEND ANY REQUESTS so please do not accept anything from me. Secondly all messages I have received are IDENTICAL so I would suggest everybody check your settings and change passwords"
