This is to gather information on what you communicate about and build a picture of your habits. Do you know why?
Well officially it’s so they can serve you targeted adverts from the myriad of businesses that spend millions of pounds each day. Call me an old-fashioned X Generation conspiracy-theorist but are we sure that’s all Google is doing with your Gmail account? Well for starters Google is an American company using servers that reside in the USA. This means that legally they are obliged to allow the US Government access to your Gmail account if they deem so. Perhaps they’ve detected that you mentioned the word ‘bomb’ or ‘Obama’ in your emails?
But Gmail is brilliant, it’s Free and I’ve got nothing to hide
Most Generation Y and Z folks I talk to (18-30 and under 18) don’t care too much about their privacy and tell me it’s worth the cost to get a free cloud-based fully synchronised email, contacts and calendar on all my devices. However did you know that earlier this year Google decided to cease their Exchange ActiveSync-licensed GoogleSync service for free Gmail accounts. What does this mean? – It means that if you want exactly the same Emails, Email Folders, Contacts and Calendar items on all your devices you can forget it with a Free Gmail account or start paying Google for Google Apps. However even if you pay, it doesn’t solve the privacy issue (if that’s an issue for you)
So how can I get my Email, Email Folders, Contacts, Calendar and Tasks to be exactly the same on my Desktop PC, Laptop, Macbook, Samsung S4, iPad, iPhone and on any browser? Oh and I want it hosted securely in the UK with nobody snooping at what emails I send and receive…
For a business or discerning private individual I would recommend proper native Microsoft Exchange 2013 on a cloud. And you guessed it that’s exactly what we can offer.
